Danielle takes beginners through advanced students. This is an open life drawing session. Most folks understand that live model sessions are an opportunity to be taken advantage of—and they come with the understanding that progress is made with persistence and with Gentle assistance in learning to see OBJECTIVELY. Danielle respects the concentration of artists using the model for their own purposes, and supports those who wish to improve their technique.

Sessions begin with quick ‘warm-up’ sketches, and progress to longer, poses. These, loose warm-ups allow attendees to explore the beauty of line making, and to respond to energetic poses with spontaneity. Filling pages with these small sketches provides everyone with a ‘registry’ of dynamic poses for later reference.

We will use the model breaks to study our work, and define our goals for the next round of studies. Through critiques, we will get acquainted with each other. By articulating our observations, we can assist each other and ourselves in reaching breakthroughs in our work. The process of increasing the time of the poses allows us to bring the freshness and energy of earlier studies into the larger, more ambitious drawings.

Danielle paints and sculpts in Oracle, teaches Basic Design at Pima Community College, and Drawing Fundamentals for Arizona Art Institute. A member of Face U of A, she recently participated in the juried show ‘In the Moment’ with her interactive piece, Color and Line.”
